"Another old soldier mustered out, and a brave and gallant one too. Jacob S Simcox, late Corporal Company C, 55th Illinois Infantry, died Wednesday night, April 17, 1895, at his home in Neal, aged 60 years. His ailment was la grippe, and he was not sick very long. The deceased had been a resident of this county for several years and was highly respected and esteemed by all his acquaintances.
His remains were buried Thursday (yesterday) afternoon with full honors, by the members of Washburn Post."
