Inez's parents were Charles Pierson and Hattie Lee Nichols Carmean. The grandparents of which the article below speaks are William "Henry" and Nancy Elvira "Ella" Ralston Nichols.
BRONSON PILOT, February 28, 1913
Little Inez Carmean was born near Xenia November 27, 1905, and died Monday, February 24, 1913, being thus a little more than seven years of age. Her mother died when Inez was a little over a year old and Inez was always a little invalid, suffering greatly much of her life and never strong. When she was a little over two years old her grandparents, H. Nichols and wife took her to their home and lavished upon her all the care and affection of parents. Now at her sudden departure (for she was thot not to be unusually ill, and passed away so quietly that her grand father, sitting in the room had not noticed it and her grand mother came from an adjoining room to learn why she was so still and found the little one stilled by the hand of death) the shock was indeed terrible for the aged people. The little girl was the sunshine and life of their home and in her all their interest centered. She was a bright child and loved to attend Sunday School, missing only when sickness compelled it.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock and the little form laid beside that of her mother in the Hatch cemetery seven and a half miles southeast of Bronson.
For the loving sympathy and assistance of neighbors in the little ones life and death, the aged grandparents feel deeply thankful.
