On April 12, 1840 Moses Kester married Mary Jane "Polly" Whitmer. They were the parents of John (who was killed at the Battle of Shiloh), Mary Jane (Mrs. Isaac Rafter), Henry James, Elizabeth (Mrs. Johnson Willard), Isaac, Eliza (Mrs. William Henry Walton), Catherine (Mrs. George Campbell), Peter, Moses, Josiah, Arzella Ora (Mrs. Henry Bakerink), Abigail (Mrs. Lewis Haskins), and Joseph.
