Alonzo W Anderson was born in Indiana on February 13, 1868, and died at his home in Grant county July 22, 1910, aged 51 years, 5 months, and 9 days. He is survived by his father, one sister, his wife, seven children and six grandchildren.
Mr Anderson moved with family to Grant county about fourteen years ago and located on a homestead in the north part of this county where he lived and engaged extensively in the raising of horses, mules, and cattle. He was well known and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of every one. His illness covered a period of several months and everything [was done] that could be done for his relief but without success. At last he gave up hope of recovery and asked to be allowed to die at home and the end came within a few hours after his arrival. His body was laid to rest in the family lot in Shockey cemetery in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends.

Hattie Eudora Staples Anderson, daughter of George and Allie Staples was born August 30, 1870 in Brown County, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. On January 1, 1889 she was united in marriage to Alonzo W Anderson. To this union seven children were born. She moved with her husband and family to a ranch in Grant county, Kansas in 1907 where she lived for twenty years. Besides performing her duties as a wife and mother, during these pioneer days, she was active in community affairs such as church, school and health programs and was never too busy to assist a neighbor. In early girlhood, she dedicated her life to her Saviour and remained a faithful Christian to the end. For the past twenty-five years she has been an active member in the Church of God at Ulysses, Kansas.
In 1920 her husband passed away. In 1927 she moved to Ulysses, where she made her home until failing health made it necessary for her to live with her children. On December 29, 1952 she passed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs Ora Carter, Lakin, Kansas at the age of 82 years and 4 months.
She is survived by six of her children: Charlie, Lamar, Colorado; Bertha Carter, Lakin, Kansas; Joe, Ulysses; Alta Ogilvie, La Canada, California; Mary Davis, Fair Oaks, California; Allen, Ulysses, Kansas; and one brother, John Staples of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceeded in death in 1923 by one daughter, Maggie Kiistner. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
