Residence Clarkesville, Nativity Indiana. Eldest son of Samuel Clark and Cynthia Strain Clark. Samuel is buried in Indiana and Cynthia in Clarksville, Iowa. Clarksville is named for Mortimer's Clark family. Samuel and his first wife, Julia Babcock Clark had two sons, Billings Archibald and Daniel. Samuel and Cynthia had Mortimer, Thomas and Emily. Mortimer and Billings married sisters, Jane and Margaret McCrery; although Billings and Margaret eventually settled in the San Joaquin Valley of California, where they are buried in Clements, California.
