Dwayne Martin Dahl, 61, the son of Martin Dahl and Ethyle (Stofer) Dahl, was born Nov. 4, 1935, near Lovewell. He died Jan. 17 at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior.
On Dec. 19, 1959, he married Dorothy Daughterty, Republic. To this union was born one daughter, Judy. Dorothy died Sept. 15, 1961. Jan. 14, 1966, he married Mary Ellinger, Granville, PA. To this union was born three children, Susan, Monty, and Cindy. He attended schools at Lovewell and Hardy. He was one of the last pupils to stable a pony in the stone horse barn at the Hardy school grounds. By his high school years at Superior, he had progressed to a pickup for transportation. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in agronomy. While in college, he started farming southeast of Hardy for the late George Powell. This association with the Powell families continued for more than 40 years, along with farming his own land in Jewell and Republic Counties. His grandfather was one of the earliest settlers on the White Rock Creek.
He was a member of the Union Church of Hardy, Kansas Livestock Association, and National Cattleman's Association. He was a past member of the church council, Hardy Community Club, Hardy Farmer's Coop Elevator Board, and FFA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and a sister, Eleda Hammer. He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; children, Mrs. Bryan Andra (Judy), Salina; Mrs. Larry Papenfuss (Susan), Pratt; Monty, and Cindy Dahl, rural Courtland, and three grandchildren.
Services were held Monday from the Union Church, Hardy, with Pastor Dale Bussinger officiating. Burial was in White Rock Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Lovewell Lake. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
