Inscription on the stone
John K. Rodgers Died January 1886
Lincoln Rodgers Died January 1886
Lost their lives in the blizzard of January 1886 while returning to their homestead. They were the first to be buried in what was then known as the Rodgers Brothers Cemetery. Their faithful collie buried beside them had gone to the nearest town and led some men to their bodies. The land they are buried on is part of the land they were homesteading. This 3 acres was deeded by their father John W. Rodgers to the Army Post 475 Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) on January 6, 1891. Donated by Greeley Historical Society 1991.
