LOWELL A McKINNEY - 70, Horton, died Sunday, July 28, 1991 at a Horton hospital. McKinney was a tree trimmer before he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and had been awarded the Purple Heart four times. He also helped build Camp Chaffee in Arkansas.

He was born November 22, 1920 in Mayetta, the son of Henery M and Anna Rhodd McKinney and was a high school graduate.

McKinney was a member of and served three times as commander of Wenger Post No 373 of the American Legion in Powhattan. He was past president of Kikcapoo Lions Club and past chairman of Kickapoo Senior citizens.

He was married to Ruby Mann June 2, 1979, near Horton. She survives.
Other survives include a daughter, Barbar Elston, Leon, Iowa; four sons, Lowell McKinney Jr, Duluth, Ga, Ronald McKinney, address unavailable, Roger McKinney, Higley, Ariz, and Chistopher McKinney, Fort Ord, Calif; several stepchildren, four sisters, Adelia Gutierrez, Gwendolyn Burns and Jeannette Bowsher, all of Horton, and Itis Milton, Phoenix, Ariz; five brothers, Lucian McKinney, Mayetta, Henry McKinney Jr, Humansville, Missouri, Donald McKinney, Lansing, Oran McKinney,Oklahoma and Dwight McKinney, Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren and a great grandchild.
