Obituary
Lorena R. "Rene" Chvilicek, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Scott County, to Walter Ray and Neva Ellen Binns Shearmire.
A lifetime resident of Scott County, moving from Modoc to Scott City in 1976, Mrs. Chvilicek was a homemaker and an avid bowler. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both at Scott City, and the Modoc Sewing Club.
On Aug. 16, 1938, she married August Chvilicek in Scott City. He died April 29, 1991. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter, three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Kennedy of Scott City; a brother, Ray Shearmire of Garden City; a sister, Jacque Snow of Scott City; a grandson; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Vigil service was at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass was at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial was in Modoc Cemetery.
