Obituary
Joe H. Bever, 82, formerly of Scott City and Garden City, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at his home in Green Valley, Ariz.

He was born March 10, 1925, in Centerville, Iowa, to F.M. "Jack" and Mildred Hellyer Bever. The family later moved to Crook, Colo.

Mr. Bever was in the agricultural business in Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. He was a member of Anthem Masonic Lodge and Scott County Shrine Club and a former member of First Baptist Church, all in Scott City. After his high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Germany.

In 1956, he married Crystal J. Marley. In 1974, he married Georgie Hemel. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Vicki Trillo of Laveen, Ariz.; two sons, Jack Bever of Ness City, and James Bever of Hutchinson; two stepdaughters, Janetha Abeyta of Loveland, Colo., and Marilyn Luebbers of Leoti; a stepson, Virgil Hemel of Colby; a nephew; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, JoAnne Smith; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Leatherman.

Funeral was at First Baptist Church, Scott City.

There was no visitation.
