Bio: Caroline Katherine Lewis Ellis Beals was born in Blount Co. Tenn, daughter of Henry Lewis and Keziah(Parkins) Lewis. She married 1st, Abner Ellis Sr.(1828-1883) June 6, 1848 at New Hope MM Rheatown, Greene Co. Tenn.
Their children: William 1849, Henry 1850, Mary E. 1852, Louiza Jane 1855, Jacob 1857, Abner B. 1860, John 1862, Amanda Adeline 1864, Rhoda Narcissa 1867,Marmaduke 1870, all born in Tenn. After Abner's death, Caroline moved to a large Quaker Community at Emporia, Ks. Most of her children moved there too. Her mother, Keziah (Perkins) Lewis Beals had already moved to the Kansas community in 1875. Caroline married 2nd July 28,1891 to Nathan Beals step-son of her Mother (son of Jacob Beals and Sarah (Ellis) Beals). Caroline was widowed, again, when Nathan Beals died in 1893. He was buried in Fruitland Cemetery, Lyons Co Ks next to his first wife, Lydia who had died in 1889. After Nathan's death, Caroline Lewis Ellis Beals lived the last 4 years of her life with her son, William Jay Ellis in Coolidge, Hamilton Co Kansas. She died April 24, 1895 and was buried in Cooldige, Kansas Cemetery

Mrs. Caroline Bales was born in Blount Co. Tn.and was 66 years old. She was a consistent member of the Friends Church. She came to this County about 3 years ago and has been living with her son, William Ellis, Sr.The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thomas at the church in this city in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. The remains were interred in the Coolidge Cemetery yesterday afternoon
