Mary Elma Ellis of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Windsor Place. She was 76. The daughter of Howard Slear and Hazel Rose Bartlett Harman, Sr, she was born July 28, 1931, in Coffeyville, Kansas. As a girl, she assisted her parents on their dairy farm in the West Brown area of Dearing, Kansas, where she attended country grade school. She graduated from Field Kindley High School 1950.
On October 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Jimmie L Ellis in Huntsville, Arkanss. They were later divorced. He survives in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was employed at ACC/Dana Corporation in Independence, Kansas, for 27 years before retiring in July of 1996. She was also a homemaker. Mrs Ellis loved raising flowers, gardening and horseback riding. In addition to her former husband, she is survived by sons, Ricky L Ellis of Coffeyville and Donald L Ellis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters, Jimette M Neese of Independence, Kansas, and Debra S. Warner of Coffeyville, Kansas; brothers, Howard "Sonny" Harman of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Wayne Harman of Drain, Oregon; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Alice Pearl Harman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or Windsor Place and may be left at the funeral home.
