MARY GEMMA GRIFFITH
Mary Gemma Griffith, Berkley, Calif., died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Scott on April 19, 1953. She lived in Topeka, Kan., until 1988 when she moved to Berkeley, Calif. She attended Witson Elementary School, Capper Jr. High School and Topeka West High School. She graduated from Washburn University in 1979 and from Washburn University School of Nursing in 1984. She worked at Shawnee County Youth Center and the Menninger Foundation in Toepka. She worked for Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, the Jewish Home for the Aged. Mill-Peninsula Hospital, and Kaiser Hospital Outpatient Services in California.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Peabody, her step-children, Miranda and Loren Peabody; her parents, Henry and Dorothy Griffith; her brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Kay Griffith; and a niece, Teresa Glidewell.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary Gemma's life was held at the Seabrook United church of Christ, Topeka, Kan., on Sunday, July 18th. Memorial contributions were suggested to The East Bay Center for Attitudinal Healing, Berkeley, Calif.; The Kaiser Hospice Volunteer Services, Oakland, Calif.; the charity of your choice.
