Demeico M Castro Sr, 88, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the VA Nursing Home in Leavenworth, Kansas.

He was born on December 19, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Lucino & Maria Reyes Martinez Castro.

Demeico worked for Swift Meat Packing Company & Cudancy Meat Packing company in Kansas City, Kansas prior to going to work for Rockwell International where he worked for several years. He then worked as a custodian for the Catholic Archdiocese in Kansas City, Missouri for 20 years.

On April 21, 1971 he married Mary Whitewater in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include,sons, Louis Castro of Castro Valley, California, Demeico Castro Jr of Everest, Kansas, Anthony Castro of Horton, Kansas and David Castro of Gardner, Kansas; daughters, Rosemarie Stover of Eugene, Oregon, Dorothy Beachner of Odessa, Missouri, Theresa Fox of Higginsville, Missouri and Josephine Castro of Lee Summit, Missouri; step daughters, Bobbie Whitewater and Toney Robles both of Horton, Kansas; brother, Martin Castro of Independence, Missouri; sister, Rita Rodriguez of Kansas City, Kansas; twenty nine grandchildren, three they raised as their children, Jason Whitewater of Lawrence, Kansas, Jessica Masqua and Dominic Masqua both of Horton, Kansas; twenty nine great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Castro, brothers, Concho, Joe, Guadalupe, Henry and Mike Castro, sisters, Maria Castro and one at birth.
