PAWNEE ROCK — Adam P. Deckert, 94, died Feb. 16 at Sunrise of Lenexa in Lenexa. Born Feb. 6, 1919 in Great Bend, he was the son of Peter and Susie (Ratzlaff) Deckert. On April 15, 1945 he married Helen Schmidt in Pawnee Rock. She died on April 7, 1996. A long-time Pawnee Rock resident, Mr. Deckert was a Lenexa resident for two years, coming from Great Bend where he resided for 17 years. He was a farmer and also worked for Doerr Metal in Larned.
Mr. Deckert was a member of Bergthal Mennonite Church in Pawnee Rock.
Survivors include one son, Howard Deckert and his wife Maria of Austin, Texas; four daughters, Anna White and her husband James of Goliad, Texas, Frances Najafizadeh of Houston, Texas, Ida Deckert of Seattle, Wash., and Amy Kliewer and her husband Rodney of Lenexa; one sister, Adina Klassen of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Ivan Deckert, Arlen Deckert, Harvey Deckert, Bennie Deckert, Lyndon Deckert, Erbun Deckert, Albun Deckert, and Otho Deckert; and one sister, Louisie Deckert. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Bergthal Mennonite Church in Pawnee Rock with Pastor Lynn Schlosser officiating. Burial will be at the Bergthal Mennonite Cemetery in Pawnee Rock.
