Roy L Schoen, 73, died June 27 at his home in Dodge City, Kansas.He was born April 1, 1928, at the family farm north of Dodge City, the son of Carl and Marie Peterson Schoen. He was a graduate of Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College. He married Peggy M Webb, October 7, 1951, in Hodgeman County. A lifelong resident of the Dodge City area, he was a farmer and rancher. Schoen was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City, Dodge City Board of Education, Ford County Soil Conservation Board of Supervisors, Greensburg Production
Credit Association Board and the District Nine Farm Credit Board of Wichita. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Farmer of Kansas Award and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from DCCC, both in 1963. Survivors included his wife of the home; 3 sons, Kent Schoen and Rex Schoen, both of Dodge City, and Jeff Schoen of Clearwater; 1 daughter, Ardis Newton of Lakin; 2 brothers, Alfred Schoen and Clarence Schoen, both of Dodge City; 3 sisters, Lola Boger of Dodge City, Etta Stork of Seward, Nebraska, and Wanda Boger of Las Vegas, Nevada; 15 grand - children; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arnold Schoen and Otto Schoen; and 2 sisters, Corinne Harms and Minnie Schoen.
