Ed Cook Dead
Monday morning Mrs Aaron Chalmer Buffington received the sad intelligence of the death of her father, Ed Cook, which occurred May 30th, or thirteen days before she received word. He died of paralysis. Mr Cook was born in Illinois may 13th, 1837, and came to this county in an early day. Twenty two years ago he removed from this county, locating in Douglas County, Missouri, where his home was at the time of his death.
He died in Winfield where he had been taken for treatment some four months since. In early manhood he became a member of the Southern M E church, but in 1872 when that organization disbanded in this county he united with the Methodist Episcopal church with which he has been a consistent member. Mr Cook was a member of the IOOF, his membership being with the Springfield, Missouri, Lodge, which had charge of the funeral. He had been married three times, the first two wives having preceded him to the great beyond, the third surviving him. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathies of a large circle of friends who mourn with them in their affliction.
