Notes for Harry H Hicks:
According to Ida Branson and the book "It Happened in Dearing" by Rachel Nelson. Which is the " Who's, Who" book on the history of Kansas and Montgomery County including the cities of Coffeyville, Independence, Cherryville, and Caney, one pg 201. Pubished by Charles Clayton Drake, 1943. On the night of September 18, 1934 Raymond Knoel shot Cecil Thomas and killed him. He then went to the Hicks home, climbed into the Hicks car and as Hicks drove into the Thomas yard he shot Mrs Thomas and wounded her. He then shot Hicks who died later at a Chany, Kansas hospital. At the time the article was written
the killer had not been caught.
