Obituary:
Lawrence E. Estes was a war veteran. He enlisted in the army when WWI broke out. He was a member of Company K, 137th Infantry,
35th division and went overseas two years. He saw action of Argonne Forest and on other fronts. He died of a heart attack at his home 901 South 1st in Independence, KS. He had been a resident of this city for 31 years. Services were held at the First Congregational church with
Dr. C. E. Luck in charge. Interment under the direction of the Jackson Funeral home. He was married to Blanche Gordon at Nowata
OK on March 7, 1920 and they had two children, Lawrence E. Estes, Junior born April 13, 1922 and Virginia born July 16, 1924.
