Lois Wanita McKinnis, age 86, formerly of Uniontown and more recently of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Mercy Health Center of Fort Scott. She was born July 11, 1923, in Bronson, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Jennie Marvin Goodno. She was a graduate of Bronson High School. She attended Fort Scott Junior College and Pittsburg State Teachers College. She was a teacher at Hog Holler in Uniontown prior to her marriage. She married the love of her life, Norman McKinnis, on February 14, 1943, in Uniontown. Together they raised three children on a farm north of Uniontown.

She was a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist church in Uniontown while she lived there. She served as the church secretary, taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was an active member of the American Baptist Woman's Association. She served her church and served the Lord each day of her life.

Lois had a long career of 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service. She served as postmaster in Uniontown and made many lifetime friends. Norman passed away in 1979, but Lois continued to love and live life through her children and grandchildren.

After moving to Fort Scott, she became a member of the First Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed cooking for her family as well as gardening. She will be missed by all who knew her and will never be forgotten by her friends and loved ones.

Survivors are her children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; two brothers, Elza and Clyde Goodno; and one sister, Doris George.
