Waneta McKinnis, 91, of Uniontown, Kansas, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home, Fort Scott, Kansas.

She was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin Adelbert and Anga Belle (Britton) Rogers. She was a graduate of Uniontown High School.

On Dec. 27, 1940, she married Charles Siegle McKinnis. He died July 5, 2000. They farmed in the Bronson area until 1972. They moved to Uniontown when their son, Warren, moved to the farm and joined in the farm and ranch operation.

She had worked at the Stroud Grocery Store, Goldie's Cafe, and for 21 years at Marmaton Valley Rest Home in Uniontown.

She was a member of United Methodist Church and Mary A. Hepler Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the Marion Township election board for 44 years.
She liked to scrapbook for her grandchildren, play cards, cook, and quilt.

Survivors include three grandsons and two great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law.

A son, Robert Warren; five sisters, Imo Salmon, Ruth Ramsey, Anna May Ramsey, Dorotha Ramsey, and Mary Ramsey, and two brothers, Livian Rogers and Glen Rogers, died earlier.

The Revs. Chub Bolling and Joel Dunn will officiate at the Monday funeral services at Uniontown United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Uniontown Cemetery. Memorials to American Cancer Society may be sent to Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
