Excerpt taken from The Edna Sun, Friday, May 9, 1902:

CHOKED TO DEATH

Nine Year old Boy Swallowed Collar Button and Death Resulted.

Georgia Benadum, the nine year old son of Mrs Devinney, swallowed a collar button, near their home in the west part of town, about 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon and in less than ten minutes life was extinct.

Doctor Woodul was summoned as soon as it was known he had swallowed the button, but he breathed only twice after the doctor arrived. He was on his way home from up town and most probably carrying the button in his mouth when it got beyond his control.
