Isaiah was born in about 1818 in Franklin County, IN. He and Mary A. Bohannon were married July 18, 1839 in Salt Creek, Decature Co., IN. They were the parents of Sarah, Abraham, David, Caroline, Richard, John, Andrew, Perry, Mary, Hulda, Sabrena, May and 2 infants. Hopefully Mary is buried beside him without a gravestone

CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE
of Isaiah Jones, of Captain Harris S. Greeno's Cavalry Company, (C.) of the Sixth Regiment of United States Kansas Volunteers, was enlisted by Lieut Hollister, of the 7th Regiment of U.S. Infantry, at Fort Scott, Kansas on the 24th day of August 1861, to serve three years; he was born in Franklin in the State of Indiana, is Forty Eight years of age, Five feet 9 1/4 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, grey hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days.
Said Soldier is unfit to perform the duties of a Soldier from old age and general debility.
STATION: Ca.....h Rays Mills Ark.
DATE: Dec. 12th, 1862
R.P. Lewis, 1st Lieut, Commanding Company.
I certify, that I have carefully examined the said Isaiah Jones of Captain H. S. Greeno's Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of Rheumatism of the right hip and his age being Forty Eight years old. The two together sending unfit to perform the duties of a Soldier.
