May 15, 1848 - January 7, 1938
Zach was born in McDonough County, IL the son of Lewis and Ann Jones Mourning. Zach and Mary A. Luther were married Feb. 17, 1880 and they were on the Kansas Federal Census for that year but Zach was a widower by the 1900 Census. In 1870 Zach was still with his parents in Bourbon Co.,KS; 1880 Neosho Co.,KS; 1900 Bourbon Co.,KS; 1910 with sister Amanda & Husband (Martin W.Brown)Custer Co., ID; 1920 Bourbon Co.,KS. Zach died in Bourbon Co., KS.
Zach never did have a gravestone until a great-great nephew, Robert G. Jones, had a small stone placed on his grave in the 1990's. Around 2005 the stone disappeared. Probably picked up and carried off! Zach's grave is near his father's (Lewis Mourning).
Zach loved children but never had any of his own.
