Henry was an early settler of Kiowa County, Kansas and established the first grist mill in Greensburg, Kansas. Later he had the contract for mail and delivered express. He married Elsie Ann McNutt in 1865 and had a daughter, Jennie Startzell. He died in Fort Dodge, Kansas, when he was 87 years old
