Martin married Minnie[Kleinknecht)in Newton,Kansas November,29,1899. Martin was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad on January,18,1907 the passenger train he was running [The California Limited] rear ended a stopped freight train 30 mile west of Hutchinson,Kansas. Martin and his fireman died in the wreck he left his wife and 6 month old son, Theodore without a father.
