Obituary:
Michael Dean Lukens, 64, peacefully went home to his Lord and Savior on Nov. 28, 2012. He was born to George and Amy Burgard Lukens on February 8, 1948, in Osmond, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Kaylene, daughter Sarah (Lukens) Scribner and husband Jasper of Henrietta, TX; daughter Leslie Lukens; son Adam Lukens and wife Kelly, of Wichita; sister Joy Nelson of Wausa, NE and brother Dennis Lukens of Crofton, NE; grandchildren Leah, Britlynn, Cole, Madix, Sierra and Mason; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel and John. He attended school at Crofton, NE, and graduated with the class of 1966. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. After working as an electrician he attended Metropolitan State College and became a certified Prosthetist. Mike spent 25 years serving others by building artificial limbs for many people and considered it a ministry. He was a member of West Evangelical Church in Wichita, KS, where he served in many capacities over the years. He lived his faith wholeheartedly and never missed an opportunity to tell others how God was working in his life. Mike was well known and loved for his welcoming personality. Memorials may be made with the Paul Johnston Memorial Fund at West Evangelical Free Church. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 pm, Sunday, at Broadway Mortuary. Services will be held at West Evangelical Free Church, Wichita, KS, on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
