Gracie
August 31, 1910 - 1911
Lula had measles when she was pregnant with Gracie, and she never grew from the waist down. She was only able to tolerate breast milk, and while nursing Lula contracted erysipilas, and her milk dried up. Gracie failed to thrive and passed away. Lula was so sick she was in and out of consciousness when they lost her, and Will and his sister Lou brought toddler Hazel with them in the buckboard to bury her next to the first baby they had lost. When Lou questioned the wisdom of taking Hazel with them, Will replied that he didn't know if when he got home, Hazel might be all he had left so he wasn't letting her out of his sight.

Born and died in Toronto, Woodson County, Kansas
