Ryan Twp. Location from Milan: 1 N, 1 W.
A Mr Poole had a private cemetery. In Nov 1891, some trustees went to Mr Poole and secured a liberal proposition from him to add the Milan cemetery to his private graveyard at $20.00 an acre.
In May 1892, a wire fence had been added to the north and east sides of the cemetery and the south and west sides had a new board fence. People had been asked to help maintain the cemetery by planting more trees. More ground had been laid out for graves.

The cemetery trustees held a meeting to form an organization to represent the citizens of Milan and the vicinity. The Milan Cemetery Association was formed with a capital stock of $1500.00. Mr C J Stillwell was elected Secretary. This took place in June in 1892.

In the court records of May 15, 1895, for the sum of $80.00, Mr Poole sold the following land to the Milan Cemetery Association: Starting at the SW corner running N 292', then E 177', then N 143', then E 478' then S 143', then W 292', then S 292', and then W to point of origin.

On Oct 23, 1897, Sumner Whitson sold 435' N and 655' E, a plot of land for $10.00 and on Oct 28, 1897, Willis K Folks sold the share of land for $50.00.
At a public sale on Nov 10, 1913, at the cemetery, the board fence on the south and west sides was auctioned. The money from the sale was used for the purchase of a new wire fence.
The first burial in the Milan Cemetery was a child of George Nottingham.
