Harold J. Horting, 86, Tescott, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The son of George and Leona (Hill) Horting, he was born December 11, 1925.

He was a lifetime resident of Tescott except for four years when the family moved to Morrowville. On November 3, 1945 Harold was united in marriage with Stella Schmitt. To this union three children were born. Harold worked for the Fairmount Creamery Company, Tescott Cheese Factory, V.P. Railroad and Bridge Crew, and he farmed with his father. He then worked for Blue Construction and in 1967 he went to work for U.S.D. 240 as custodian and he retired in 1991. Harold was a member of the Masonic Lodge 143 in Minneapolis for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tescott United Methodist Church, and the Tescott Lions Club. Harold served as Mayor of Tescott and served on the Franklin Cemetery Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife Stella on January 22, 2011.

Survivors include his children Charlotte Groelly and her husband Ernie of Southport, NC, Earl Horting and his wife Trudy of Topeka, and Ty Horting and his wife Lenee of Plainville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday at the Tescott United Methodist Church with Pastor Laura Cherry officiating.

Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. The family will receive friends from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis.

Memorials may be made to the Tescott Lions Club.
