AIRPLANE CRASH NEAR TESCOTT FATAL TO TWO
Jacob Dean Spohn, 25, of Culver, a former army air transport command pilot, was killed and his companion, Miss Mary Virginia Crider of Tescott fatally injured in a air plane crash two and half miles west of Tescott Saturday evening. Spohn will be remembered here as the pitcher who struck out 18 batters when he pitched for Tescott in the state tournament at Wichita recently against the Cessna Bobcats.
Miss Crider was taken to Asbury Hospital in Salina where she died Tuesday morning. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Crider of Tescott. Virginia excelled in 4-H Club work and will always be remembered for her entries here at the fair where she had been grand champion.
Spohn's body was thrown clear of the wreck and was dead when found. Miss Crider was still in the plane which did not burn. This was Miss Crider's first plane ride.
Funeral services were held for Dean Spohn at the Presbyterian Church at Bennington Tuesday afternoon with burial in the Bennington Cemetery.
Funeral services for Miss Crider will be held this afternoon at 4 at the Tescott Methodist Church with burial in the Franklin Cemetery at Tescott.
