MRS. COWAN IS DEAD
One of County's Outstanding Pioneer Women Passes Away At Age of 88
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cowan, one of the widely known pioneer women of Bourbon county, died at 11 o'clock this afternoon at the home of a son, Charles Cowan, near Uniontown. Mrs. Cowan was nearly 88 years old.
Mrs. Cowan had been an invalid for the past three years and had lived with her son. Other children who survive are Harry V. Cowan, W. G. Cowan and George Cowan, all of Uniontown, and Mrs. S. W. McAllister of Hiattville.
Harry Cowan was in Prescott when informed by long distance telephone that his mother was dying. He made an effort to reach her bedside before death occurred but was too late.
Funeral arrangements had not been made this afternoon.

Mary was born in Bates County, MO.
