Mary was the daughter of Washington and Lavina C Burchett Clark of Lee County, Virginia. She married Henry Thomas Burchett of Tennessee, possibly on the trail to Kansas or after both of them arrived there. He was the son of Daniel and Abigail Littrell Burchett of Tennessee. (I have found no close connection between his and Mary's mother's family, although her parents had spent some time in Tennessee early in their marriage, so they may have been some kind of cousins.) The children I have identified are Maude, Jasper, Charles Thomas, George Madison, Gladys Rosabell, and John Washington. There was one more that died in infancy. When elderly, the couple lived in La Harpe, Allen County, Kansas, where there son lived. Though Henry Thomas was buried there, Mary obviously chose to be buried back at the Means Cemetery outside of Quincy and Neal, where her babies, mother, brother and niece were buried.
