Betty Jean Charter, 80, died April 12, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.
She was born July 21, 1928, in Cement, Oklahoma, the daughter of Pete and Anna Smith Cleveland. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
On December 4, 1948, she married John Prentice Charter in Hutchinson. He died January 2, 1982. Survivors include: special friend and companion, Robert "Red" Hoffman, Hutchinson; sons, Larry Blair and wife April, Geneseo, Kansas & Stephen Blair, California; daughters, Sharon Hovious and husband Jim, Debbie Wolcott, Janis Charter, and Susan Flores and husband Greg, all of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary Ann Charter, sister Carol Beshears and brothers, Jerry and Ronald Childs.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice House, in care of the mortuary.
