Mrs MacDowell was born June 23, 1931, in Deloit, Iowa, daughter of Leslie John and Millicent (Brooks) Lovejoy. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was a teacher at Salina, a self-employed piano teacher and taught in Solomon. She owned Keyboard Artistry. She was a past president of Piano Teachers League and worked as an election volunteer. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Salina and an organist at First Covenant Church and Quail United Methodist Church for more than 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie J Lovejoy and Millicent (Brooks) Roark; and brother Gerald Lovejoy.
Survivors include her ex-husband, Robert MacDowell, of Salina; daughters, Cynthia Rae Buyse and Julie Kay Whitted, both of Salina; sons Timothy Lee and Mark Robert, both of Salina and David Kevin of Dracut, Massachusetts; brother Tom Lovejoy of Las Vegas; sisters Mable Lovejoy of Denver and Alice Pollero of Escondido, California; 11 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
