Nellie "Op-tose" Suzette Shopteese, 69, of rural Horton, died Tuesday, Aug 16, 2005, at her home on the Kickapoo Reservation.

Mrs Shopteese was born on the reservatin, west of Horton, June 2, 1936, to Charles and Pauline Wahwassuck Green. In 1953, she married Lorenzo Shopteese in St Joseph Mo. He survives, of the home.

She was a nurse's aide at the Brown County infrimary for years. She also worked for the Kickapoo Tribe as a dental assistant and community health representive, then in the housekeeping department at the Golden Eagle Casino. She was a member of the Kennekuk Church and the Kickapoo Tribe.

She was precede in death by a daughter, Joan Shopteese, two sons, Roland and Lorenzo Shopteese Jr, a brother; Leland Green, a sister, Rosalie Green, and a grandson Jeremy Simon. Other survivors include two sons, Michael Shopteese and John Shopteese, both of Horton, four daughters, Shirley Shopteese, and Michelle Shopteese, both of Topeka, and Chrstine Simon and Crystal Shopteese, both of Horton, two brothers, Gary Knoxsah Green and Dale Dupuis, both of Horton, two sisters, Vivian Wishteyah and Charlene Whitebird, both of Horton; and numerous grandchildrena and great-grandchildren.
