Artimish Vance was born in October 1850, at Rome, Ohio, and was united in marriage to James Sage in 1870. They came to Labette County, Kansas, in 1874 where they resided on a farm near Edna until the death of her husband some years ago, when she came to Edna. Here she has resided continuously, until the last few months, which on account of declining health, she had spent with her sons at Coffeyville.
She was a devoted wife and mother, an earnest Christian and a member of the Presbyterian chruch of Edna. When the Presbyterian church closed, she affiliated with the M. E. church of Edna. She died at the home of her son Ernest Sage in Coffeyville, Kansas, on March 17th, 1924, aged 73 years and 5 months. She leaves to mour her depature: one brother, Cary A. Vance of Parsons, Kansas, and five sons, W. W. Sage of Parsons, Kansas, Walter A. Sage, Geo. W. Sage Arthur F. Sage, Chas. Ernest Sage all of Coffeyville, Kansas, and a host of friends in and near Edna.
The funeral took place from her late home in Edna, on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. N. Varnell, preaching the funeral discourse. Interment in the west Edna cemetery.
