John Ard passed away at the Chanute hospital Monday morning. The funeral is to be held this afternoon (Wednesday)

Sarah Ann Turner was born in Springfield, Il. October 21, 1859, and died at her home in Elsmore, Kansas, Feb. 20, 1936 having attained the age of 76 years and 4 months.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Turner. She came to this state with her parents while still a child and settled on a farm near Uniontown.
She was united in marriage to John Ard of Elsmore, Kansas on Jan. 5, 1880. To this union seven children were born, four of whom are still living. Thomas F. Ard of Ada, Okla., Paul C. Ard, Elsmore, Kan., Earl Ard, Chanute, Kan. and Mrs. Clara Pavilisek of Elsmore, Kan. Three children, Ernest and Rosemond Ard and Mrs. Velva D. Page have preceded her in death. She had two brothers and three sisters living. William Turner, Springfield, Illinois, Otto Turner of western Kansas, Mrs. Odie Pool and Mrs. Everette Nichols of Bronson, and Mrs. Ray Beaman of Uniontown, Kansas and also a step mother Mrs. John Turner of Bronson.
After her marriage she lived on a farm west of Elsmore until the year 1926. In this year she and her husband retired to a residence in Elsmore, Kansas where they have remained up to the present time.
She was a kind and loving mother and a true friend who was always willing to help others as long as her health permitted. She was a firm believer in Christianity and spent many of her spare moments with her Bible.
She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her husband and family nine grand children, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the M.E. church in Elsmore on Saturday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Henry E. Millikan, and interment was in the Elsmore cemetery. The pallbearers were Russell Page, Claud Cady, Orland Nichols, Lee Herrin and Delbert Cady.
Music was furnished by the Elsmore choir and vocal solo by Mrs. Swanson.
One brother and 3 sisters living at her death, Otto Turner, Mrs. Odie (Lula) Pool, Mrs. Everett (Pluma) Nichols and Mrs. Ray (Ruth) Beaman were half brother and sisters.
