Lola Marie Boger died February 2, 2013 at Brookside Inn, Castle Rock, Colorado after attaining 90 years of age. She was born to Carl J and Marie K Peterson Schoen on December 23, 1922 at their home in Hodgeman County. Lola attended grade school at District 37 (Schoen School) in Hodgeman County and graduated Salutatorian of the County's 8th grade class of 1936. She earned a GED in 1969. Lola was a member of Saint Michaels Lutheran Church in Hodgeman County. She was baptized there on January 21, 1923, witnessed by her baptismal sponsors Michael and Matilda Schoen and later received the Rite of Confirmation on May 16, 1937. On August 30, 1941, she married Samuel Boger at her parent's home in Hodgeman County. Their union was blessed with 2 sons.Sam and Lola lived on the farm where he grew up from the time they were married in 1941 through 1983 when Sam died. Lola was active in the church throughout her life and was a homemaker. When the boys were in high school, she worked at the School Lunch program in Dodge City and then as the Dry Goods Department Manager at Montgomery Wards until the store closed in 1978. After Sam's death, Lola continued to live on the farm until moving to Dodge City in 1989. She and Sam joined the Messiah Lutheran Church in Dodge City when Saint Michaels closed in 1964. She was a member there until 1997 when she transferred to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She moved to Castle Rock, Colorado in February of 2005. She joined Epiphany Lutheran Church of Castle Rock. She suffered a heart attack just before Christmas in 2010 and moved to Brookside Inn for rehab -ilitation the first part of January 2011. She continued to live in Brookside until her death.
Lola is survived by 1 son, Terry J Boger of Castle Rock, Colorado; 1 sister, Wanda Boger of Las Vegas, Nevada; 5 granddaughters, Chandelle Claassen and husband Russ of North Newton, Heather Ackerman and husband Brad of Spearville, Kimberlie Carrell and husband Sam of White House, Texas; Alicia Boger of Aurora, Colorado and Whitney Weidner and husband Daniel of Aurora, Colorado; 7 great grandsons; and 2 great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 son, Alan; her parents; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.
