Charles Konantz Griffith, 83, of Fort Scott, formerly of Uniontown died early Monday morning April 27, 2009, at Mercy Health Center of Fort Scott.
He was born in Uniontown, Kansas, the son of Glen Rex and Grace Miriam (Konantz) Griffith.
He married Lucile Mae Funk June 2, 1951 at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. She survives of the home.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Bourbon County, living most of that time in Uniontown, until moving to Fort Scott in 2008.
He graduated from Uniontown High School, and was a Staff Sergeant in the US Airforce, stationed at Offutt Airforce Base, Nebraska from 1950 until 1954.
He was a farmer, and was a member of the Faith Christian Center. He was also a 50 year Mason, and a member of Eastern Star.
He served as a member of the Uniontown School Board, the Fort Scott Community College Board, and was a Red Cross Disaster Services Volunteer. He and Lucille also hosted Exchange Students.
In addition to his wife, Lucille, Charles is survived by his son; Bill Griffith of Uniontown, three daughters; Mary Wynn of Uniontown, Cindy Bartelsmeyer of Fort Scott, and Sara Messer of Fulton, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Lois Clark, and a brother; Henry Griffith.
According to his wishes, Charles was cremated. Pastor Tim O'Neal conducted memorial services on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
