Henry M. Griffith, 85, of Topeka passed away at Brewster Place on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007. He was born Oct. 14, 1921 at Uniontown, Kan., the son of Glen and Grace (Konatz) Griffith. He was raised in Uniontown and graduated from high school there. He later attended Ft. Scott Junior College.

Griffith served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Dorothy Nichols in Bourbon County on June 20. 1945, He worked for his uncle Earl Konatz at his funeral home in Fort Scott.

He moved to Topeka in 1952. He worked at Wall-Diffenderfer Funeral Home, Fenwell-Gabel Funeral Home and later Goodyear working there 21 years until retiring in 1982.

Henry was a member of Seabrook Lodge where he had served as past master, was a 33 degree mason, member of the Arab Shrine Temple, First Congregational Church and the United Rubber Workers Union, Local No. 307.

His wife Dorothy preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2004.

Henry is survived by his son. Glen Griffith and wife Kay of Topeka; best friend and companion. June Pringle of Topeka; brother, Charles K. Griffith of Uniontown; sisters, Betty Perry) of Cascade, Mont., and Alice Ramsey of Fort Scott, granddaughter, Teresa Glidewell; step-grandchildren, Troy Riner and Letha Wells; live great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death is a stillborn son, Joseph; daughter, Mary Gemma Griffith in 1999; sister, Lois Clark as well as his parents.

Griffith was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at First Congregational Church, 17 and Collins.

Private family inurnment will be held later at the Uniontown Cemetery, Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church; Heart Of America Hospice, Brewster Place or charity or your choice. Davidson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
