SYLVESTER BEAMAN
Word has been received here of the death of Sylvester Beaman, 97, a former resident of the Uniontown neighborhood who died suddenly Wednesday at the home of a daughter at Burden, KS.
The deceased, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Beaman, was born Feb. 4, 1860, at Garnett. He was married to Ada Wolf, Dec. 24, 1882, at Uniontown. He retired from the farm in 1940 and moved to Bronson. Three years ago he moved to Burden to make his home with a daughter Mrs. Pearl Stanley.
Surviving are one son, and four daughters, Roy Beaman, Route 2, Fort Scott; Mrs. Maude Hoggatt, Wichita; Mrs. Pearl Stanley, Burden; Mrs. Leola Smith, Wichita; Mrs. Lena Mitchel. There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The funeral of Mrs. S. H. Beaman, 79, was held at the Baptist Church last Friday afternoon, attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors.
The Rev. E. M. Daniels, for many years a friend of the family, brought the funeral message, paying high tribute to a life well spent. Laurence Moore read scripture and led the prayer.
A mixed quartet, Mesdames D. R. and D. D. Kuns, and Messrs. Dale Kuns and Gene Wilson sang "Rock of Ages," and "Some Time We'll Understand," and Mrs. Kuns sang as a solo, "No Burdens Yonder." Mrs. M. D. McKean accompanied and played prelude and postlude.
Pall bearers were: Messrs. Edgar Redfearn, E. H. Wright, Rayman Harlan, F. L. Orbison, Charles Dawson and Fred Stewart.
The following obituary was read:
Mrs. Ada May Beaman, 79, wife of Sylvester H. Beaman, and a pioneer resident of this county, died Wed. Oct. 14, at 4:30 o'clock at the Main Street Hospital. She had resided at Bronson the past three years. She had been an invalid the past year.
Ada May Wolfe, daughter of Harriett and J. C. Wolf, was born in Indiana. November 10, 1863. When 15 years old she came with her parents to Bourbon county and settled at Uniontown. On December 9, 1883
she was married to Sylvester H. Beaman and they moved to a farm three miles south of the Diamond school, where they resided for 37 years.
Besides the husband, she is survived by four daughters and one son, namely Mrs. Pearl Stanley of Burden, Kan.; Mrs. Leola Smith of Columbus, Jans.; Mrs. Lena Mitchell of Deerfield, Mo.; Mrs. Maud Hoggatt of Bronson, and Roy Beaman of Sedan, Kan. All have been continuously at her bedside.
There are two brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Beaman was a member of the Baptist Church. She was a high type of Christian character, helpful to others and devoted to her home and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Beaman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary nine years ago.
