The funeral of Charles W. Bayless, 80, of Uniontown was held at the Uniontown Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. the Rev. Ray Nitcher, a close friend of the deceased, gave the funeral sermon. He was assisted by the Rev. G. M. McIntosh, pastor of the Uniontown Methodist Chruch.
Hymns were sung by Mrs Ed Holt and Mrs Lyle Ramsey and accompanied by Mrs Roy McKinnis. Burial was in Bronson cemetery beside his wife. Pallbearers were Roy Culbertson, Lloyd Stroud, Fred Nickelson, Charlie Smith, Verne Jones and Chris Pritchett.
Mr Bayless was a member of the South Fairview Methodist church near Bronson and had been a Blue Lodge Mason since early manhood. He was the oldest son of Frederick C and Annie Laurie Bayless, pioneer residents of the South Fairview and Bronson communities.
In 1896 he married Miss Oma Nichols who preceded him in death in 1933.
All of Mrs Bayless' children were present for the funeral of their father--Mrs Reta Crowder of Fort Scott; Dan and Merle of Vallejo, Calif; Claude of Los Angeles and Virgel of Sacramento.
The sons had only returned to California in early June after having spent ten days in Colorado with their sister and family at a family get-to-gether.
Mr Bayless leaves nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, City Attorney Fred W Bayless of Fort Scott, and three sisters, Mrs Eleanor Tripp Scott of Oklahoma City; Mrs Anna Smith of Meridian, Ida, and Mrs Emma Wilson and Mrs Bertha Meyer both of Bronson.
