RALPH CADY RITES
The South Fairview M.E. church was filled to capacity last Friday, June 21, 1935 with sorrowing neighbors and friends who gathered to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memory of Ralph Cady. Banked around the casket were lovely floral tokens of love and sympathy. On the casket rested a beautiful family bloc of white lillies and gladiolus inscribed "Ralph". Other beautiful tokens were from neighbors, relatives and friends, the Fairview Ladies Aid, and many others. A men's quartet, composed of Lowell Orbison, Dale Kuns, Rev. Cooprider and Mr. Moore, accompanied by Mrs. Emma Wilson, sang, "No Night There," "Sometime We'll Understand," (which was a favorite hymn with Ralph) and "Abide With Me."
Rev. Cooprider paid a beautiful tribute and conducted a comforting service, reading the 23d Psalm and other passages of Scripture. He used as his theme Matt. 24: 44: "Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh. "The speaker told of the life plans of this young man, so suddenly cut off in young manhood. He likened his life to a chrysalis, which will open up in more beautiful life over there, where the beautiful soul may see the consumation of his plans here on earth; we do not know, but we should all be prepared when our time of visitation comes. "Be ye also ready." Rev. Cooprider also gave solace to the sorrowing relatives with prayer.
Interment was in the Bronson cemetery beside his little brother.
Pallbearers were Orlin Nichols, Truman Collins, Homer Perry, Herbert Perry, Loren Huss and Fred Seastead.
Mrs. Tremble and son, of Kansas City, were here for the funeral.
Ralph Cady was born on a farm in Rockford Valley, January 6, 1907. He passed away at the Main Street Hospital June 20, 1935, at the age of 28 years, 5 months and 14 days. The family moved to their present farm February 22, 1907. He stayed with his parents until 2 years ago when he took a farm to manage for himself, one mile south of the parental home. While he lived alone on this farm he made frequent visits home. He always went home on Sundays and this regular visit will be greatly missed by the family, who done for him all that loving hands could do. Among the many expressions made to his mother was that he believed in Christianity and he lived as he believed.
Ralph was a very obedient son and was a source of pride to his parents. His younger brothers adored him and loved his companionship. The family is outstanding for their devotion to each other. His opinion, advice and counsel were always considered and he always listened to others. Ralph's teachers held him in high regard. It was a pleasure to have him as a pupil and they enjoyed working with him.
He was a conscientious worker and one of his ambitions was to own his own farm.
He is survived by his father, mother, two brothers, Claude and Delbert. One brother died in infancy. Also by one grandmother, Mrs. Frank Cady; three aunts and four uncles, 2 cousins one great aunt, Mrs. Anna Ard, of Elsmore; one great uncle, William Turner of Illiopolis, Ill., and friends by the score.
