February 22, 1857 - December 18, 1930
Iola Register, December 1930
Francis Susann Potter was born in Missouri, February 22, 1857; departed this life December 18, 1930--being at the time of her death, 73 years, 9 months, 26 days. She came to Bourbon County, Kans., with her parents when a child; where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with Geo. W. Reeder, who preceded her 25 years ago. To this union were born five sons and three daughters. Mrs. Charles McGinnis, Iola; Mrs. Arthur Hutcheson, Deerfield, Mo.; Mrs. George Miller, LaHarpe, Kan.; Ruben Reeder, Fort Scott, Kan.; Marion Reeder, Bronson, Kan.; Orve Reeder, Webb City, Mo.; Charles Reeder, Wichita, Kan.; Fred Reeder, Elk Falls, Kan.
In 1923 she was united in marriage with G. W. Allen, who preceded her June 4, 1930. She leaves a stepson, Sidney Allen, of Iola; her children, 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Allen knew all the hardships of a pioneer life in rearing her large family, and did it well. Truly it can be said of her, "She looketh well to the waves of her household, and ate not the bread of idleness."--Proverbs. She expressed her readiness to go and the end came peacefully.
The funeral was preached in the M.E. Church in Bronson, Kans., the Rev. J. Weden officiating. Interment was in the Walnut Hill cemetery.
