Mason Cemetery
Bourbon County,
Kansas

December 10, 1860 - May 14, 1915

Bronson Pilot, May 1915
Erastus Pool was born in Indiana December 10, 1860, and departed this life May 14, 1915, aged 51 years, 5 months and 4 days. About the year 1878 he came to Kansas, to Bourbon county, where he has since resided, first at Hepler, then at his late home near Bronson. His parents having died when he was a mere boy, Erastus made a brave battle in life alone.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emily Mason on February 16, 1882 and to them seven children were born. Five of these are living: Odie, Pearl, Ernest, Roy and Bertie. Joseph A. and Lena M. preceded their father in death, and the wife and mother passed away eight years ago.
Mr. Pool was again married to Margaret Smith, November 1, 1910, who with the children deeply mourn their loss.
In the meeting at South Fairview in January 1913 Mr. Pool made a reconsecration of his life to God and united with the fellowship of the M.E. Church in which he remained a faithful and devoted member. He was also an active member of the Methodist Brotherhood, and of the M.W.A. and Masons.
Bro. Pool was a good man and kind neighbor, father and husband, and his sudden taking away has cast a gloom over the entire community.
His funeral services were held at his late home, five miles south of Bronson, last Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. H. Oliver, and the body laid to rest in the Rockford
Valley Cemetery.
