COFFEYVILLE - Elsie Edna "Marie" Allison, of Coffeyville, formerly of Altamont, died Monday, August 18, 2003, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born at the family farm home southwest of Oswego on November 22, 1909, the second child of Carl Frederick Adam and Minnie Mae Arnold Sammetinger.
As a small child she moved with her parents to Oklahoma City and Atoka, Oklahoma, before returning to Labette County.
She attended the Stover School near Oswego and Valley and Rose Hill schools near Edna and completed two years at Edna High School.
She married Ernest Glenn Allison on July 28, 1926 at Oswego. They lived on a farm south of Altamont until they moved to Altamont in 1951.
They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together just shortly before he preceded her in death on August 6, 1991.
Following his death she moved to the Senior Citizen Apartments in Altamont where she resided until 2001. She then moved to Coffeyville where she lived recently at Windsor Assisted Living.
Marie was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning, growing flowers, cooking and going fishing. She became a member of the Christian Church of Elm, Kansas, in 1929 and later transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church in Altamont.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie and wife, Carol, Coffeyville; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Allison of Altamont; a son-in-law, Jimmie Johnston and wife Betty, Edna; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Also preceding in death were a son, Raymond Alison; a daughter, Lucile Johnston; a sister, Anna Mae Roll; and a baby brother, Willie.
Services will be at 10 am Friday, August 22, at the First Baptist Church of Altamont with Rev Greg Garrett and Rev Wayne Norton officiating with burial to follow in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery of Altamont.
