Darrell Tweedy, 83, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born October 18, 1929 at Bel Aire, Kansas, the son of John Taylor and Neva L. Hillman Tweedy.
He graduated high school in Phillipsburg and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He moved to Dodge City in 1956 from Phillipsburg to work as a printer for the Dodge City Daily Globe, later working at the High Plains Journal, Dodge City, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714, American Legion, Bird Club and Iris Club all in Dodge City.
On December 8, 1950 he married Ravona "Rae" King at Phillipsburg. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Kathy Hare and husband Loyd, Lubbock, Texas; 2 sons, Mark Tweedy and wife Stacey, Garden City and Steve Tweedy and wife Rita, Dodge City; a brother, John Tweedy, Forsyth, Missouri; 2 sisters, Laura Burris, Dodge City and Linda Tweedy, Independence, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Philip Hare, Lynne Contreras, Jenni Ploeger, Josh Tweedy, Amber Clark, Zach Tweedy, Erica Villarreal, Anna Tweedy, Whitney Weber, Nathan Tweedy and Elisha Friess; and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond, a sister, Neva Bozarth and his step-mother, Mildred Tweedy.

Ravona "Rae" Tweedy, 82, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born at Agra, Kansas, the daughter of Elvin and Eula Barnes King. She was a graduate of Agra High School. She moved with her husband from Phillipsburg to Dodge City in 1956 and in 1969 began working for JC Penney and retired in 1995 as the office manager.
She was a very active member of the Church of Christ, Dodge City where she worked in the church office and enjoyed the Ladies Bible Class. She was also a member of the Ford County Extension, past secretary for the Bowling Association and a member of the Bird Club and Iris Club. Darrell preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kathy Hare and husband Loyd, Lubbock, Texas; 2 sons, Mark Tweedy and wife Stacey, Garden City and Steve Tweedy and wife Rita, Dodge City; a sister, Evlyn Johnson, Russell, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Philip Hare, Lynne Contreras, Jenni Ploeger, Josh Tweedy, Amber Clark, Zach Tweedy, Erica Villarreal, Anna Tweedy, Whitney Weber, Nathan Tweedy and Elisha Friess; and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Melvin King.
