Edna Hinton Hertach, 92, died October 7 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born March 7, 1916, at Beaumont, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Tim and Edwina Pierce Hinton. Edna worked at Camp Shelby in Mississippi during World War II and met Earl Hertach. They married March 28, 1944, in New Orleans. He died July 22, 1970. At the end of the war they moved to Claflin, where they lived and farmed the land given to them by his parents, Leo and Frances Hertach.

Mrs Hertach was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society in Claflin, EHU, and was a homemaker and licensed practical nurse. Survivors include a son, Timothy Leo Hertach and wife Joy of Claflin; two daughters, Dixie Ann DeLong and husband Gary of Durant, Iowa, and Katharine Frances Clark of Wichita; nine grandchildren, Marcia L Jacobson, Tara Lindsay, Ross DeLong, Michael DeLong and Steven DeLong, all of Iowa; and Timothy V Hertach, Anthony E Hertach, Monica A Hertach and Taylor J Hertach, all of Claflin; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, half brothers Gus and Edward and half sisters Evie and Verda.

An Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Friday, and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday, both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Charles Mazouch officiant. Burial will be at Montgomery Cemetery southeast of Claflin.
