Charles Phillip Denno who died of heart paralysis at the family home in Macon township, Thursday, March 16th, 1911 was born May 18th, 1844 in Mishawska, Indiana, being at the time of his death sixty-six years, nine months and twenty-eight days of age.

On February 7, 1878 he was united in marriage to Mrs Rebecca Crofoot of Mishawaka. To this union one child, a son Royal Peter, was born June 29, 1879 and died February 1, 1887. In the Fall of 1878 Mr Denno accompanied his wife and her four daughters to Kansas, locating on the farm which has ever since been their home. In a business way, this family has been successful. By industry and good management they have accumulated a valuable property. He is survived by his wife, one sister and three brothers, one, John is a resident of this county. Three of the step daughters, Mr. Nora Nolder, Mrs Florence Bonham and Mrs Mary Walton, are residents of this county.

Mr Denno was the oldest of a family of thirteen children. The father was born in York state of French descent, the mother being a native of Southern Indiana.

In his death the family loses a kind husband and father, the church a faithful member; the community an upright citizen. Until the day of his death, Mr Denno had never been so sick as to need the services of a doctor. The night before, in conversation with his wife, he remarked that he felt as well and strong as at fifty years; and that he ought to be "good" for twenty years more. The next morning he was not feeling so well and reluctantly consented to have a doctor called. Shortly after the doctor left, death came the passing was without a struggle.

The faithful wife, thinking that he had gone to sleep, attempted to wake him, but failing in her efforts she summoned neighbors and doctor, but all efforts were to no avail.

At the time of death and many years prior, the deceased was a consistent member of the Zion Evangelical church, whose pastor Rev Mr Spencer will conduct the funeral services which will be from the home on Sunday, March 19 at one o'clock, internment to be in the Newton cemetery.
